New York Red Bulls have added Matt Kassel to their senior playing roster as a homegrown player.
The University of Maryland star becomes the third player to join the Red Bulls in this situation, joining Giorgi Chirgadze and Juan Agudelo.
Red Bulls sporting director Erik Soler admitted the signing of Kassel, a midfielder who is part of the national youth team setup, was extremely positive for the club.
"I think maybe it is the single most important factor [for] the club," Soler said. "We're very excited to get a third player in the academy into the first-team roster."
