DC United's General Manager Dave Kasper says Argentine player Marcelo Gallardo will join the team shortly. Gallardo finished an injury hit 2008 season with a knee issue but received surgery in Argentina according to Kasper.

"His starting points [in training camp] won't be great," Kasper told the Washington Post. "He obviously has to get healthy and get fit. Now it's a matter of just finishing the final rehabbing and when he can begin training."

Kasper also explained that Gallardo had initially looked at returning to Argentina and explained that he had "expressed that he may have an interest in going back to Argentina, but that never really went anywhere."
