Kashima Antlers have redeemed themselves from a poor showing in their opening Asian Champions League encounter to record a 2-0 victory over Shanghai Shenhua.
Takuya Nozawa opened up the scoring for the home side just prior to half-time with a precise finish over Shanghai keeper Zhang Chen and things got worse for the visitors when skipper Du Wei was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence midway through the second half.
The task became increasingly tough for Shanghai as the minutes ticked by and the three points were completely out of reach when teenager Yuya Osako added a second for Kashima in the 79th minute.
