Kashima Antlers brush aside Suwon Bluewings in ACL

Kashima Antlers brushed aside Suwon Bluewings 3-0 to qualify for the round of 16 in the Asian Champions League.

Brazilian striker Marquinhos overcame a groin injury to net a double in the Antlers victory which will see them almost certainly finish on top of Group G.

In the 26th minute, a short corner from Kashima resulted in a header for defender Go Oiwa, which he tucked away to give the home side the early ascendency.

Just six minutes later, Marquinhos begun his reign of terror with a deft touch from close range to double the advantage and put the J-League champions in the box seat.

Suwon tried in vain to bridge the two-goal gap but were unable to do so and when Marquinhos chipped goalkeeper Lee Woon-jae in the 74th minute, the contest was over.

Suwon are now in danger of failing to qualify for the next round but have it all in their own hands as a home win over the lowly Singapore Armed Forces will see them through.
