Kashima Antlers bridge gap with Nagoya Grampus in Japan

Kashima Antlers took points off J-League leaders Nagoya Grampus with a 1-0 win at home on the weekend.

A 57th goal from Brazilian striker Marquinhos was the difference as Kashima cut Grampus' lead to eight points with five matches remaining in the league.

Elsewhere in Japan, Yokohama F. Marinos produced a 4-1 away result over rock-bottom Shonan Bellmare, Cerezo Osaka won 1-0 at home over Shimizu S-Pulse, Kawasaki Frontale came from 2-1 behind to beat Kyoto Sanga 4-3 away, Omiya Ardija won 2-1 over Montedio Yamagata, Sanfrecce Hiroshima moved up to 8th with a 2-1 win at home over Urawa Reds, Vissel Kobe beat Vegalta Sendai 2-0, whilst FC Tokyo and Gamba Osaka as well as Jubilo Iwata and Albirex Niigata played out 1-1 draws.
