Dutch defender Karim Rekik hopes his spell at PSV Eindhoven will boost his chances at Manchester City.
Rekik is now with the first team squad in Scotland as part of their pre-season work, and is hoping that regular football last season at a Champions League club has helped prepare him for what Manuel Pellegrini demands of the squad at City.
"I will see if I'm ready [for the first team] - that's the choice of the manager," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"He said I had a great season last year and he watched a few games of me and that I need to work hard now and fight for his place.
"That's what I need to do and he decides if I'm ready or not."
