Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka hopes they can sign permanently Southampton attacker Gaston Ramirez.

Ramirez is on loan at Boro from Southampton but is out of contract in the summer.

“I would like to sign him but I can understand that he wants to wait because if, at the end of the season, we don't achieve promotion he is going to get offers for sure from other places," Karanka is quoted as saying by Gazette Live.

Ramirez has also been linked with a return to former club Bologna.
