Sevilla star Fredi Kanoute has urged former Tottenham teammate Jermain Defoe to quit White Hart Lane.

Former West Ham United star Kanoute said: "I really think it's time for Jermain to move on, but I can't make choices for him. He is a very talented player who is still young at 24.

"When I played against Jermain last year, I asked him why he doesn't start and he just said 'the gaffer chooses the team.'

"I watch the Premier League a lot and he never seems to be playing.

"He is one of the best finishers I have played with and I cannot understand why Jol is leaving him out.

"I didn't get on very well with Jol and maybe this is the same story for him."
