Kalou: Chelsea teammates surprised me with January success

Salomon Kalou admits Chelsea's success through January surprised him.

Chelsea had to make do without Kalou and Ivory Coast teammate Didier Drogba this month.

Kalou told chelseafc.com: "I watched some of the games, brilliant. I think that the way the team played shows we are in the best form.

"I wouldn't think we would keep winning games, every team has its moments where they are not playing well, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and we had our difficult moments but are back in a good one. Now we need to keep winning and take points, because that's how we win the title.

"In Africa we were lucky because we had the Premier League on TV, so I watched the Sunderland game, which was amazing, and some other Cup games, Manchester United v Leeds, West Ham v Arsenal, so we were in touch with England all the time."

"The team has been playing a different system and with the 4-3-2-1, we played it in the second half against Fulham in December and played much better.

"It is a great way of playing, everyone has been at their best and it is nice to watch. I have been here almost four years and I have played in every system, so I know that I can adapt to it."
