Salomon Kalou is close to agreeing a new contract with Chelsea.
The Times says the 23-year-old's deal expires at the end of the season, but the club have made an improved offer in recent days and his signature is imminent.
Chelsea were keen to retain Kalou's services in any case, but with their transfer ban no in place, it has increased the need to tie their existing squad to long-term contracts.
The former Feyenoord striker has been offered a new four-year deal worth £60,000 a week, which, although modest by Chelsea's standards, is almost double the value of his present contract and deemed acceptable by his advisers.
