"Fighting for the title became quite difficult for us, but Milan are always battling to achieve that goal," said Kaka. "The points difference is too big. We hope we can clinch at least a Champions League berth."

The 25-year-old went on to defend goalkeeper and compatriot Dida, who was criticised after failing to keep out Esteban Cambiasso's scuffed winner in the Milan derby.

Kaka said: "We have nothing to blame Dida for because some others failed in the build-up play. Besides, we are united and we all defend Dida."
