Younes Kaboul is convinced he can get his career back on-track under Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp.
The former Tottenham defender told the Portsmouth News: "I want to progress and I know Harry can help me do that. He is ideal for me.
"He's like a dad. He gives you confidence, he doesn't stress you. It's about playing football, that's it. It can be difficult but he gives you confidence to just enjoy.
"If you do something well he tells you. That's normal because he's the manager, but not all managers do that. Harry does.
"I'd met him before and I was impressed. At the time I was too young to leave France, I wasn't ready.
"Then I heard of the interest and spoke with Clive Allen, the manager of the reserve team at Spurs, and he told me Harry's a good manager who gives you confidence.
"I know Jermain Defoe, Lassana (Diarra) as well. These people keep saying good things about the manager.
"Jermain told me it was a good club and that's why I came here. It's good for me and my ambitions, it wasn't a difficult choice.
"I can play well here. Harry gives you confidence, gives every player confidence, so it's good for me."
