Kaboul: I joined Spurs for Jol

Younes Kaboul admits he's disappointed to see Martin Jol leave Tottenham.

"He supported me a lot at the beginning," Kaboul said. "My English isn't great but he talked to me all the time and made sure I understood. He's a coach who gives you his trust very quickly. That's why I never wanted to let him down."

Kaboul insists he was convinced about joining Spurs in the summer by the presence of Jol.

"When (Damien) Comolli contacted me last season he talked a lot about Martin Jol," Kaboul told the Sunday Telegraph. "He said many positive things about him. Before I signed, I went to meet the coach and he told me about his ambitions for the club. He was very optimistic. He told me what he expected from me and he was very clear."
