Juventus striker Paulo Dybala admits rejecting Olympics selection

Juventus striker Paulo Dybala says he turned down the chance to play for Argentina in the Olympics.

Dybala missed out on the Copa America squad this summer.

“I've never had an opportunity to play in a tournament for La Seleccion, and it would have been nice to do it with my teammates," Dybala said.

“Unfortunately it's not down to me. I knew I'd have been in the squad for the Olympics, I'd spoken to Tata Martino, but Juve said no.

“My idea was to be part of the squad for the Copa America or the Olympics, but unfortunately it's not to be. My club are betting on me and want me to be in top condition for next season.

“Juve weren't in a position to let me go, and when I talked to them I understood their decision."
