Currently on-loan with Empoli, Giovinco said: "I'm honoured by the comparison. I work with Zola with the Under-21 side and he was an incredible player.
"However, at the moment it's not a real parallel as I still have a lot to prove and I just need to continue like this."
Although Giovinco admits that he was disappointed to be sent away from Turin in pre-season, he maintains that is happy to ply his trade for Empoli.
"There was some degree of frustration at leaving Juventus," he said. "But that was only because I was leaving a great club and my family.
"I believe that I made the right choice because here at Empoli there is space for young players to grow."
