Juventus have jumped ahead of Tottenham in the race for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

The Portugal international is expected to seek a move away from Barca in January after finding himself sidelined by coach Ernesto Valverde. Gomes is desperate for first team football in a World Cup year.

El Mundo Deportivo says Spurs and Juve are in contact, with the Italians stepping up negotiations in recent days.

Gomes' agent, Jorge Mendes, is actively seeking a buyer for the midfielder before Christmas.
