Juventus has finally lost patience with manager Claudio Ranieri, sacking him with two matches left in the Serie A season. Ranieri's side has not managed a win in it's last six Serie A matches, a slump which took it from title contender to struggling to finish third and achieve an automatic Champions League qualifying position.
Ranieri has been replaced by former Juventus defender Ciro Ferrara for the final two matches of the season.
"The next two games are our future," Juve chief Jean Claude Blanc told the media.
"It is not our style (to sack someone) but we cannot miss out on Europe. We wanted to shock the players so they'd take the right path with the right man at the right moment."
