Juventus president: We've rejected Man City offer for Chiellini

Manchester City have failed in their bid to land Giorgio Chiellini, with the Italian club's president having confirmed that an initial offer has been rejected.

The Italy U21 international has made no secret of his desire to quit the Turin giants for England, with his agent reiterating his client's intent on Monday.

However, while Juve initially stated that they would not stand in the way of any deal should Chiellini wish to move, it would appear they have had a change of heart.

City could well return to Juventus with an improved offer, but for now, club president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli is refusing to sell.

"Our position is not to accept Man City's offer for Chiellini," said Gigli. "The player remains in our plans."
