Juventus will make a new offer for Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg before this week's transfer deadline.

Juve have not given up hope of signing Mellberg this month, instead of waiting until the end of the season, when the Villa defender is out of contract. Villa turned down an offer of £700,000 from Juventus last week.
