Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has blasted Italy's politicians on the eve of the World Cup.
Minister Roberto Calderoli called for the Azzurri's bonus to be shelved.
"It would be opportune for the FIGC to reduce the bonuses for the players involved in the World Cup or even better for the players themselves to turn down the money," said Calderoli.
"It would also be good for the clubs to reduce wages, as these figures clash terribly with the current economic crisis."
Buffon was not happy with the suggestion and made clear his position.
"I don't understand why some opportunistic politicians always use the World Cup to make outlandish statements and hit us through the media," said the goalkeeper.
"They could just come and talk to us in person. Mind you, when the team does well, you see they always backtrack.
"If Calderoli were to tell me where our potential bonuses would go, then I might consider it."
