Alessandro Del Piero insists he is not coming to Australia to flit away his playing days.
The former Juventus star has now arrived down under to kickstart his time with Sydney FC and says that he is here to begin a new chapter in his distinguished career.
"I am not here for the end of my career. I am here for the start of a new career," he told reporters.
"I know there is a lot of expectation, and I love that. All my life I played to win and I'm here to win. [I'm not here] to pass the time or stay healthy with my family. I'm here because I want to win."
He added: "I've done everything I can to stay in good condition. Now I need to join the team, to get to know the players and the coach (Ian Crook) and work out what he needs."
