Alessandro Del Piero has revealed that Liverpool showed interest in him prior to his move to Sydney FC.
The former Juventus star signed with the A-League club on Wednesday and has admitted his surprise that the Reds came in with late transfer window interest.
"They were one of the clubs, amongst the non-Italian sides [interested], and I was surprised to be contacted by them," he said regarding the Liverpool interest at his first Sydney press conference.
Del Piero has signed a two-year deal with the Sky Blues believed to be worth around £1.6million per season.
