Juventus helped Manchester United sign Robin van Persie last summer from Arsenal.

Italian sources say the former Arsenal captain had already committed himself to moving to Turin and had agreed personal terms over a Juve contract.

However, Juve were struggling to talk down Arsenal's €30 million valuation and when United came knocking, Van Persie asked to be released from his agreement.

The Dutch ace wanted to move to United and felt it only right to ask Juve to mutually break their commitment, rather than do so unilaterally.
