Juventus have made a formal approach to Villarreal for striker Giuseppe Rossi.
Juve sports chief Alessio Secco was in Madrid yesterday for transfer talks and spent part his day discussing Rossi with Villarreal officials.
Villarreal are ready to sell Rossi, but want David Trezeguet in part exchange. Secco informed the Spaniards that a deal could be struck, though their demands of a £16 million cash component is too rich.
Secco returned to Turin last night without an agreement, but Juve will keep tabs on the situation in the hope Villarreal drop their asking price.
