Alessandro Del Piero is hoping to remain with Sydney FC for a further season according to reports.
The 38-year old Italian striker signed a one-year contract in September which features a clause which can be triggered to open up a second season.
A Sky Blues source recently said that the former Juventus star is happy in Sydney and is seeking a lengthier stay than was first agreed upon.
"He has the passion and he is committed to the Sydney FC project," claimed the source.
"He has indicated to the club he wants to stay for the long term."
Del Piero has so far scored five goals for Sydney but the two-time A-League champions sit on the bottom of the table after seven matches.
