Juventus GM Beppe Marotta has explained not moving for Atalanta midfielder Roberto Gagliardini.

The youngster is now expected to move to Inter Milan this month, despite being linked with the champions.

At Tomas Rincon's unveiling, Marotta explained not competing for Gagliardini's signature.

"He's a good player but not a functional profile for our cause and this is why we never acted," said Marotta.

"We have already Sturaro, Mandragora and Lemina in that role so this is neither an insult nor an oversight."
