Liverpool are keeping tabs on Ashley Cole's situation at Chelsea.

With Chelsea refusing to budge from their one-year contract policy for players over 30, Cole is expected to quit Stamford Bridge when his deal expires in June.

Turin sources say Juventus are keen to bring Cole to Italy, but intermediaries have warned of competition from Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool.

A move for Cole would strengthen Liverpool's defence and at 31, wouldn't act as a long-term threat to youngsters Jack Robinson and Martin Kelly.
