Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli has slammed critics of Gigi Buffon after Italy's defeat to Spain.

The veteran goalkeeper conceded three times in Spain.

“Losing 3-0 isn't good for Italy, but I think it can make us grow, the youngsters too," he told Rai Sport ahead of Tuesday's clash with Israel.

“Not going to the World Cup would be devastating, but we mustn't think about it.

“Buffon critics? They make me laugh, but they can stay.

“So Gigi still has to prove his worth… For me, criticising him is madness. A sense of balance is needed."
