Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon is facing surgery.

Tuttosport says Buffon will have an operation on his back after the World Cup, much to the concern of Juventus management.

The 32-year-old World Cup winner suffered a slightly herniated disc during the warm up before Italy's warm-up match against Paraguay on Monday.

Buffon will have an operation to relieve the pressure on his sciatic nerve.

Juventus have already anticipated the need for surgery by opening negotiations with Milan for Marco Storari, whose average rating was the best in Serie A last season.
