Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara is excited about his new Brazilian midfield pairing. On the arrival of Felipe Melo from Fiorentina, Ferrara said: "He is a very high level player who will allow us to play several different formations.
"We were considering other transfer targets, but when the chance came of signing Melo, we didn't think twice. Even if the amount paid is significant."
On Diego, Ferrara added: "It's wrong to state we're building the team around him. We will not rely on one player. It's too much pressure for him in his first season here. Even if the expectations are enormous."
On the boo-boys targeting Fabio Cannavaro and Jonathan Zebina, Ferrara was adamant.
"Let's put this in context, they're challenging the team. I respect the ideas of everyone, but I have to make further assessments, technical. And I will defend the choices made. If they want to challenge individuals then they will challenge me."
