Juventus coach Max Allegri dropped Paul Pogba to the bench for their 1-1 draw with Chievo Verona.

Afterwards, Allegri was asked if this sent a message to the Frenchman.

“He had played two games for France, returned on Wednesday and I preferred to give him a breather. The same was true of Giorgio Chiellini and Stephan Lichtsteiner.

“At the moment we are struggling to score goals, but we played decidedly better than against Roma and Udinese.

“Claudio Marchisio's thigh muscle hardened, so we decided to take him off as a precaution."
