Juventus GM Beppe Marotta says Paul Pogba deserves his Ballon d'Or nomination.

The young midfielder was a surprise inclusion in this week's list of nominees. It came just days after Pogba penned a new contract with Juve.

Marotta said: "Pogba has quickly climbed the mountain.

"He is a 1993, arrived quietly earning a place on the bench, then as a starter.

"Around him, there are few, as evidenced by his inclusion in the list for the Ballon d'Or."
