Juventus chief Beppe Marotta is coy over their move for Barcelona pair Javier Mascherano and Daniel Alves.
The defensive duo are said to have agreed deals with Juve.
“This is a group that's difficult to improve but we always want to be more competitive," he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Dani Alves? We're talking about an important player, but he isn't our property. We'll see what we can do.
“Mascherano? These are media situations, but we don't want to sell anyone from our defence unless Caceres leaves on a free transfer.
“At the moment, though, we haven't done anything, I can't confirm or deny it. And the same goes for [Andre] Gomes and [Miralem] Pjanic."
