Juventus captain Del Piero offers support to crocked Beckham

Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero has offered words of support to David Beckham over his Achilles injury.

The AC Milan midfielder, on-loan from LA Galaxy, has been ruled out for six months after undergoing surgery this week.

“I am so sad at what happened to Beckham,” wrote Del Piero on his official website.

“With two months to the World Cup and in the thick of the Scudetto race, it’s really difficult to come to terms with such a serious injury that in a few seconds takes it all away.

“I am particularly saddened for David because I know him well. He’s a good guy, a great professional and above all someone who is propelled by the unstoppable passion for football and sport.

“This is what allowed him to stay at the top for many years, accepting new challenges and winning them. Dear David, I am convinced this will be another challenge you’ll win.

“Hang in there and good luck. We’ll meet again on the pitch.”
