Juventus directors are today discussing making a late bid for Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.

While Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks declared this week the necessary £17 million will be released to sign the Argie permanently, Juve know that the Reds' first option on the midfielder will expire on February 1.

Tuttosport says Juve's board are meeting today about spending big to bring Mascherano to Turin at the end of this season.
