Juventus have insisted that Tiago will not be joining Tottenham after accusing the North Londoners of dragging their heels over a potential transfer.

Sporting director Alessio Secco claims the Portugal midfielder will instead remain in Turin, despite speculation that Atletico Madrid have also launched a bid to sign him before the deadline.

"We have received a number of requests for him and Tottenham followed him over the last few days," stated Secco.

"But, they [Spurs] took their time, and now there is not much time left to conclude the deal, so Tiago is no longer on the market.

"Now he has got the chance to show his capabilities here with us."
