Lukas Jutkiewicz is using Everton teammates James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe as inspiration as he chases a first team place.
Jutkiewicz told evertonTV: "I just have to try and keep scoring, keep working hard.
"The problem is we have quite a few strikers at the Club at the moment. So I have to be patient.
"It might be that I have to wait for an injury. Victor and Vaughany (James Vaughan) got chances because of player injuries and they took them. So if I get a chance, I have to do the same."
Anichebe progressed through the academy and reserves sides and is now a regular in and around the first-team setup.
"It's good because obviously he's played in the first team," continued the former Swindon player. "He's a similar age, and it helps with his experience and he's someone I can relate to.
"It helps a lot because we do a lot outside of training to bond. Obviously because he's done well and he tells me little bits about what he's learnt from that.
"In the game I probably could have scored even more than what I got. I could have been a little bit more clinical but I'm happy with the goal anyway.
"The one that got disallowed hit me half shoulder and half arm. I don't see how the linesman or the referee could have seen it, but never mind!"
