Jubilant Newcastle boss Pardew praises hero Krul

Alan Pardew was full of praise for goalkeeper Tim Krul after his heroics helped Newcastle United to a 1-0 victory at Tottenham on Sunday.

The 25-year old Dutchman came up with an outstanding performance, producing 14 saves to deny Spurs as the Magpies moved up to ninth on the table with their second successive win against a title contender following last week's 2-0 result over Chelsea.

Krul, whose save tally was the most in a Premier League match since the 2006/07 season, came up with one of the best keeping performances his boss had ever seen.

"Yeah, it was one of them. Wow. I think he is the best goalie in Holland and I think he proved that today," said Pardew.

"His performance level has not needed to be high recently as we have not come under that sort of pressure too often, but we did today.

"Certainly in the second half Tottenham really turned up the heat and he answered almost everything. It was an unbelievable performance."

Loic Remy's 13th minute goal was the difference between the sides as Newcastle moved to within three points of seventh-placed Tottenham.
