Jozy Altidore was delighted to grab his first goal for Villarreal on the weekend. The USA international striker struck in Villarreal's 4-1 victory at Athletic Bilbao on Saturday to become the first American to score in the Spanish Liga.

The former New York Red Bulls star said: "I'm very happy, both for the goal and the victory of my team at a very difficult stadium like the San Mames.

"I always want to score in every game as I wanted to do in this contest. In addition, I have achieved it in a very nice way, with much enthusiasm and many people in the stands. It is a historic moment.
