JORDANIA BOMBSHELL: Chelsea stopping Vitesse from becoming Eredivisie champs

Merab Jordania has hit out at Chelsea's relationship with Vitesse Arnhem.

Jordania was unhappy to hand control of the club to Russian businessman Alexander Chigrinsky, a friend and business associate of Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

It was portrayed at the time as an amicable handover of power, although since it has become clear that Jordania was not so pleased to leave.

There are claims the real power behind Vitesse is Abramovich, which has been denied by Vitesse officials.

However, Jordania told De Telegraaf that Vitesse are being blocked from becoming champions of Holland because of the problems it would create for Chelsea.

"I want to tell the fans of Vitesse the real story. I wanted to be champion of the Netherlands, but London ultimately did not.

"Ambition is fine, but Vitesse may not be in the Champions League with Chelsea."

UEFA do not allow two clubs of the same owner to compete in the same European competition.

Jordania admits he defied the orders coming from Chelsea.

"Why? Because when I arrived I promised that we would go for the championship within three years to the fans of Vitesse. Those ambitions we had discussed internally ourselves.

"So you should not cheat people after two years, and slow down. Because that happened over a year ago!"
