Jonny Evans: West Brom players fighting for Pulis

West Brom defender Jonny Evans says the players are behind manager Tony Pulis.

Evans revealed how Pulis had plotted the win over West Ham.

“West Ham play a very expansive and open game and teams have watched them," he said. “We studied them – they leave a lot of players high up for the counter attack and we knew if we were patient we could hurt them.

“I thought tactically we were good - the manager worked with us on the shape all week."

West Brom's new Chinese owners would do well to bear that in mind as they decide whether to keep Pulis at the helm or go in search of a more glamorous name as their manager.

“Our performance showed that we are fighting for him," said Evans. “He has a very well known way of playing football, and we all buy into that.

“I think the one thing Tony Pulis does with his teams is he gets them all working hard. I don't think you can say that anyone in a Tony Pulis team doesn't work his socks off, week in and week out. I hope the fans appreciate that."
