Jones: I join West Brom in great form

Former Preston North End fullback Billy Jones is delighted with his move to West Bromwich Albion.

The 24-year-old Bosman signing put pen to paper on a three-year Baggies deal on Friday.

And it has been a rapid turnaround in fortunes for the right-back, who earned rave reviews for his performances in the Championship last term but only weeks ago suffered relegation to League One with Preston.

"I'm made up to be here," Jones told the WBA website.

"It's bad for any player to be relegated, especially as Preston hadn't been relegated in 13 seasons from the Championship.

"So it hurt a lot but to then get news like this was great for me. I feel personally it has been one of my best seasons at Preston.

"That sounds crazy because we got relegated. I feel like I've improved year on year at Preston.

"I'm just glad the gaffer has seen that and I hope I can keep improving as a player at West Brom. I'm experienced in the Championship but the Premier League is a whole new league and different types of games.

"It's a fresh challenge, I'm still young and I'm really looking forward to hopefully cracking the Premier League. I've spoken to former team-mates who have gone on to the Premier League.

"And I feel playing in a team with better individuals is obviously going to improve me as a player.

"Hopefully I can just help the team out and prove myself in this league."
