Joneleit joins Hibs from France's Monaco and chose the Easter Road club ahead of offers from SV Hamburg and Wolfsburg.

He said: "I have signed a three-year contract at Monaco and I wanted to go out on loan to play some games. Wolfsburg and Hamburg and a few other clubs were interested but I decided Hibernian would be best.

"It will be a good experience for me and I hope to play as much as I can, improve as much as I can and then go back to Monaco and get into the team there and keep myself in the international set-up. That is my hope and we will see how it goes.

"John Collins called me and told me he would be keen on having me and I met him a couple of times in Monaco.

"He told me all about Scotland and Edinburgh, and of course the club, and I was convinced it was a good move for me. I also spoke to people at Monaco, my parents and to my under-21 coach with Germany, Dieter Eilts, and they all told me it would be a good thing to move to Hibernian. I will try my best to make sure it is."
