Fulham boss Martin Jol feels next year's World Cup will drive the players up the table.
The Dutchman's squad includes a number of internationals who have just come through successful qualification campaigns.
"It is a big inspiration and I always try to use it" said the Fulham manager.
"But I try not to overdo, because it could be a big problem if everyone wants to go to the world cup.
"For example Brede Hangeland has got no problem with Norway as they have not qualified.
"But Philippe Senderos, who plays for Switzerland, wants to have his games, he wants to play.
" For some players, if they don't play they have got a problem, because all these national teams and their coaches want their players to play.
"With Holland coach Louis van Gaal, if you don't play he won't select you, so of course I use it as a motivation.
"I've got Alex Kacaniklic, he's in the Sweden team and did well and Pajtim Kasami has made his debut for Switzerland now, so of course they want to go to Brazil.
"But first they have to perform and do well."
