Jol ready for Fulham job but Ajax stall talks

Martin Jol has finalised personal terms on his move to Fulham and the only thing that is holding up the transfer is Ajax's continued refusal to negotiate with the London club over the manager's release, reports The Guardian. According to sources in the Netherlands, Jol has agreed a three-year deal at Craven Cottage worth in the region of £2m a year. The contract is prepared and is merely awaiting his signature.

Ajax, however, have dug in their heels and although the Fulham chief executive, Alistair Mackintosh, is in Amsterdam with the intention of closing the deal, the Dutch club are remaining difficult.

Jol has two years to run on his contract at Ajax and they are keen to hold him to that, despite his desire to take on the challenge of succeeding Roy Hodgson at Fulham.
