Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol is furious over Ajax's decision to sell defender Thomas Vermaelen to Arsenal.
A source close to the new Ajax coach told the Daily Mail: "Jol is livid. Vermaelen has been brought up the Ajax way. He knows how to defend, how to attack and can play either centre-half or left-back.
"He's a versatile defender who is very strong and aggressive in the air. He's an excellent man-to-man marker and has been outstanding for Belgium in World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Turkey.
"Jol did not want to lose Vermaelen especially to the club who were his main rivals at Spurs."
