Jol denies criticising Spurs chief Comolli

Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol has hit out at reports claiming he blamed sporting director Damien Comolli for his departure.

Jol was sacked last month after seeing Spurs fail to pull away from the lower reaches of the Premier League table despite investing around £35million on new players during the summer.

The Dutchman was replaced in the White Hart Lane hot-seat by former Sevilla coach Juande Ramos.

However, despite newspaper reports claiming he was unhappy with the club's transfer policy and in particular Comolli's part in signing new players, Jol now claims he was misquoted.

"These quotes are not attributable to Martin," said a spokesman for Jol.

"We believe they come from articles in Holland which in the translation from Dutch to English have been reported as coming from Martin, but they did not."
