Jol confident Fulham have enough points to remain safe

Despite Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United, Martin Jol feels Fulham are in a good enough position to stay up.

The Cottagers conceded deep into injury-time at St James' Park when Papiss Cisse netted his third stoppage time winner in the past three matches at the venue.

The loss left Fulham sitting 10th on the table with 39 points and although it was not an ideal result, Jol suggests his side may have done enough to steer clear of the bottom three.

"There are two clubs who have a problem - Reading and QPR," said the Dutchman.

"So it's all about the third club, otherwise the results today were good for us, good for Newcastle as well.

"I don't think we're in trouble, but then 10 years ago you needed 44 points to stay up, a couple of seasons ago a club needed 42, but then five or six seasons it's been 36 points.

"I think you need a lot of points this year to be safe, but I think we are fine, although you never know.

"At least we've a very good goal difference compared to other teams, so that is important, but of course we would like a few more wins."
