Jol admits Fulham crunch talks after QPR defeat

Fulham boss Martin Jol admits holding crunch talks with his players after defeat to QPR.

Jol was furious after watching his side repeatedly come off second best in a 2-1 defeat that gave QPR their first win of the season.

He responded by staging a lengthy squad meeting this week in which he insisted his players show some 'heart and passion' against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

He said: "I was very annoyed, irritated that we played the way we did against QPR - it was a derby game. We spoke about it. It's not as if we went to this game and took it for granted, that they had not won this season and it will be easy.

"We said it will be difficult. We really thought we were up for it. We won nine tackles in 90 minutes. Our average is 17."

Jol added: "We spoke about it in a meeting - it was a bit longer than normal, and I think they understood we need to come up with not only better results but we have to show we can play with passion and our hearts."
