Adam Johnson is pleased Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson has publicly backed manager Gareth Southgate.

"It's fantastic. All the lads are behind him and we want him to stay. I think it was exactly right what the chairman did," the winger told Sky Sports News.

"Our next three games are really important and if we can get a couple of wins it all changes again, we could be out of there and someone else could be in.

"There are some big games, but there is still a long way to go before it is decided who is going to go down."
